Just Dance

No asian wedding festivity is complete without dancing- and alot of it!

Dancing during mendhi and sangeet nights has always been traditional , and im sure many of us have fond memories dancing at friends or relatives weddings. Since the 90s, bollywood style dance routines have replaced the traditional dholkis,  and now one of the main events during mendhis, sangeets, and engagements- not forgetting wedding receptions. These well-rehearsed routines have led to dance-offs between the bride and grooms families. In this honour, i have scouted two particular weddings, where it is obvious ALOT of effort has gone into the mendhi dance preparations, and its certainly paid off!

This is a mendhi dance routine performed by friends and family of Fariha and Malik- its pretty long, and for this reason split into 3 parts- enjoy!

If that wasnt enough inspiration, have a look at the dance trio who performed at Sam and Hassan's mendhi..

Happiness

Everyone should have a moment like this- at least once, everyday..

J'adore Amor

I have spent alot of time going through wedding videos for inspiration, and despite seeing so many i have to say this particular wedding does rank quite high. Not only are the bride and groom both beautiful and well suited to eachother, the settings, the outfit, music, atmosphere and the way the video is shot and edited makes it a hard one to beat!!

Take a look for yourself!

The brides makeup and outfits are stunning- glamour without looking too overdone

The little touches at the end like the chinese lanterns make the day seem all too pretty :)

Amor Media Productions have certainly done a fantastic job capturing this beautiful day. Congratulations to the happy couple :)

IHeartThis♥

IHeartThese pretty craft ideas i discovered.

Try cutting out heart shapes on coloured tissue paper, and threading them through eachother. Hang them up near windows (keeping the windows closed may be more practical, given the delicate tissue they are made from), to let the light shine through during a sunny day, and in the evening a candlelit atmosphere would compliment the heart-shaped shadows just as well. Simple.

Use different colours and textures to vary the design, or mix and match with other shapes and colours. This would be fantastic as a background for a table, or even as an alternative decorative technique to banners.

-Why didnt i think of this?- I used to love collecting the paint cards as a child!

This is one particular craft I would love to replicate- tiny red hearts on a striking white canvas. From a distance they look like little heart shaped butterflies.

Tea in High Places

One of the reasons I even began blogging was whilst researching for 'vintage pink' inspiration for a bedroom makeover. Having been obsessed with this theme and its timeless elegance, its perfect for weddings/parties/girly nights in or just to have a look at. What isnt to like?

The subtle background music to the video adds to the pretty ambience, and I love the way they have managed to incorportate vintage with modern asian-wear.

I discovered this particular video and later found a few other asian-wedding blogposts relating to it. I guess its perfect inspiration for an event.

-The pink-lipstick is on my wishlist <3 & for those of you who liked the background music as much as i did, its Latika's Theme from the Slumdog Millionnaire soundtrack.

Alice in Wonderland

This is been my favourite childhood film, and an amazing theme for both parties and weddings alike.
Alice's Wonderland would be perfect in an outdoor setting, with the addition of mismatched furniture, sipping tea from vintage crockery, and cake plates with canapes to capture the essence of Mad Hatter's tea party.

The electic, random, pretty and bohemian chic- not to mention 'anything goes' approach is what is so great about the story, and this can be reflected in the theme. Regardless of the occasion, im sure its reminicent of innocent days.

If the theme is too much- and more childrens party as opposed to wedding, it may be interesting to look at particular elements- outdoor garden, tea party, pretty pink, or just the quotes- theres something for everyone!
